It’s about to get much harder for players to waste time on the pitch.

Details: According to Topskills Sports UK, FIFA and IFAB are set to announce a new rule for footballers: any player who receives medical attention on the field will be required to stay off the pitch and remain on the substitutes' bench for a full minute.

This innovation is expected to be put to a vote on Saturday, when representatives from the organizations gather for the International Football Association Board (IFAB) meeting.

The new rule is expected to significantly reduce simulation and time-wasting by players. Now, if a player deliberately tries to waste time or fakes an injury, their team will be left a man down for an entire minute.

Whether this change will be implemented at the 2026 World Cup remains a mystery for now.

Reminder: World Cup matches could last up to 2.5 hours. What’s the reason?
