Manchester United are seriously weighing up a blockbuster summer swoop for Chelsea star Cole Palmer.
Details: According to TeamTalk, Cole Palmer is open to a move to Old Trafford and is keen on returning to the northwest of England. The club views him as a pivotal addition to bolster their attack ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, Chelsea are only willing to part with their talisman for a record-breaking sum—over £150 million—which would make Palmer the most expensive player in Premier League history. The midfielder is contracted until 2033, and the club officially considers him untouchable, despite internal doubts among players about the longevity of Chelsea’s project following recent managerial changes.
It is reported that United’s interest is being strongly backed by technical director Jason Wilcox, who previously worked with Palmer in the City academy. Amid uncertainty over Bruno Fernandes’ future, Palmer is seen as a long-term solution either as a number ten or on the right flank. The club’s hierarchy, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, view the transfer as a statement move in the ongoing rebuild.
It’s worth noting that this season, Palmer has made just thirteen appearances for the “Blues” across all competitions, contributing five goals. Transfermarkt currently values him at €120 million.
Reminder: Nottingham midfielder Douglas Luiz rejected Chelsea’s offer and opted to sign a contract with Aston Villa.
