Pyramids have claimed their first ever CAF Champions League title. In the dramatic final of the tournament's 61st edition, the Egyptian side edged out South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns on aggregate (3-2).
Pyramids have become only the 27th club in history to lift this coveted trophy. While Krunoslav Jurčić's team celebrates a sensational triumph, let's take a look back at all the champions who have made their mark on African football's grandest stage.
The tournament was founded in 1964, with Cameroon's Oryx Douala taking home the inaugural title—although the club has since faded into the background of their domestic football scene.
The most decorated team in CAF Champions League history is Egypt's Al Ahly, who have reached the final in each of the last five seasons and lifted the trophy four times in that span.
All winners of the tournament:
- Al Ahly (Egypt) — 12
- Zamalek (Egypt), Mazembe (DR Congo) — 5
- Espérance (Tunisia) — 4
- Hafia (Guinea), Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Wydad (Morocco), Canon Yaoundé (Cameroon) — 3

Additionally, in the upcoming CAF Super Cup, Pyramids will face Morocco's Renaissance, who themselves triumphed this season in Africa's second most prestigious club competition, the CAF Confederation Cup.
