AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Sadio Mané out, Krépin Diatta back, Patrick Vieira announces Senegal’s squad to face Sudan
On Thursday 5 November, the manager of the Lions of Teranga revealed the names of the players who will take part in the two-legged tie against Sudan, counting towards the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Patrick Vieira has selected a squad of 25 players for this international break. The French manager’s squad is once again notable for the absence of Senegal’s star striker, Sadio Mané. Having missed the September-October training camp, the Al-Nassr forward has not been called up for the matches against Sudan on 12 and 16 November either. However, Krépin Diatta returns to the squad.
Pathé Mboup and Pape Demba Diop have been called up for the first time to the Lions of Teranga. Senegal have recorded one draw and one win in their first two matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
