€90m transfer bombshell? PSG target Nico Williams, but Athletic refuse to budge
Paris Saint-Germain are back in the race for Nico Williams, but signing the Athletic Club winger could require an enormous outlay! A fresh report links the French champions with the Spain international while the Basque side refuse to make their star any cheaper.
Details: According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, PSG remain among the clubs monitoring the 24-year-old winger. Athletic are unwilling to lower the roughly €90 million release clause in his contract. The report does not establish that Paris have submitted a new offer or opened formal negotiations.

Williams signed a long-term extension in July 2025 that keeps him at Athletic until June 2035. That agreement raised his release clause from approximately €58 million to around €90 million. With such a lengthy contract, the Bilbao club have little reason to negotiate a discount. Arsenal and Barcelona have also been linked with the player.
The winger has recently regained form after a muscle injury suffered while on Spain duty in September. He featured in Athletic's 4:0 victory over Getafe on October 25 and assisted his brother Iñaki in the 2:1 derby win against Real Sociedad on November 1. Those performances have renewed interest in his future, although no formal bids have been confirmed.
It's worth noting that Williams himself said in October that he had turned down approaches from PSG, Arsenal and Barcelona to remain in Bilbao. His agent had also acknowledged previous interest from those clubs. A reported desire to sign him now is not proof of an agreement, and Athletic's €90 million figure remains a major obstacle.
Reminder: Absolute madness! PSG score four goals in just 17 minutes in Champions League clash.
