Return to Brazil? Flamengo targeting Liverpool's star goalkeeper
Brazilian club Flamengo are exploring the possibility of signing Liverpool and Brazil first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker as a free agent in summer 2027.
Details: According to sports outlet Sport Witness, serious disagreements have emerged within the Rio de Janeiro club's hierarchy over whether the deal would be worthwhile. Some of the red-and-blacks' executives have expressed doubts about signing the 34-year-old goalkeeper, citing his age, lofty wage demands and inconsistent performances for the national team in recent matches.
Alisson's current contract with the Merseyside club expires in June 2027, allowing him to change clubs for free. Flamengo will, however, face competition from Internacional, where the goalkeeper came through the academy: the player's boyhood club are also determined to bring their legendary goalkeeper back home.
It is worth noting that Alisson Becker has been representing Liverpool since summer 2018, following his move from Roma. With the Reds, he has won the Premier League title, the UEFA Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup and has twice received FIFA's award for the world's best goalkeeper.
