Oumar Solet chooses to represent Ivory Coast
He is one of the new faces in the Ivorian national team. Oumar Solet will now represent Ivory Coast on the international stage.
The Udinese defender has been named for the first time in Hervé Renard’s squad, unveiled on Thursday 5 November, for the double-header against The Gambia. A former French youth international, Oumar Solet has decided to represent the country of his ancestral roots.
At the age of 26, he is set to make his debut for the Ivory Coast national team following this first call-up. Oumar Solet is not the only newcomer to the Elephants’ squad. Abdoul Ouattara, Martial Godo and Yaya Fofana have also been called up for the first time by Hervé Renard.
The four new call-ups could make their international debuts in the two-legged tie against The Gambia, scheduled for 12 and 17 November, which count towards matchdays 3 and 4 of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
