Newcastle defender Amar Dedić found himself at the centre of a bizarre police operation after a witness reported two men carrying a bow and arrows near a reservoir. Several patrol vehicles, including armed response units, were deployed, but officers ultimately reported no danger to the public.

Details: According to talkSPORT and other British reports, the incident took place on Wednesday, November 4, in the Harlow Hill area of Northumberland. Police received a call shortly after 1:55pm, then stopped a car carrying Dedić and a friend in Darras Hall, roughly seven miles away. Officers seized the bow and arrows and questioned the pair.

The response reportedly involved at least six marked and unmarked police vehicles. The equipment was believed to be intended for recreation, according to Northumbria Police. Some reports suggested arrows had been fired in the countryside, although it was not established what the men were aiming at. There is no confirmed report that Dedić was charged with an offence.

The 24-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international joined Newcastle from Benfica in August 2026 for around £30 million, signing a five-year contract. He reunited with head coach Matthias Jaissle, whom he knew from Red Bull Salzburg. British media report that the club is not expected to discipline the defender over the unusual episode.

It's worth noting that Northumbria Police stated that the public had not been threatened and that inquiries remain ongoing. The player could therefore still be available for Newcastle's Premier League trip to Fulham on November 7. The police intervention should not be confused with a finding of criminal wrongdoing.

Reminder: Boom! Arne Slot could make a sensational Premier League return.
