Former Watford and England striker Luther Blissett has been hospitalized following a brain hemorrhage, reports Daily Mail. Blissett lost consciousness during a charity event and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Watford FC, the club most closely associated with Blissett's illustrious career, responded to the alarming news by sending their support and wishing him a speedy recovery.
“He has been greatly cheered up by receiving messages from teammates in the Former Players Association and all around the world, as well as from fans of Watford and football in general. We're really touched by the concern so many people have shown,” Blissett’s wife, Lauren Fox, told the Watford Observer.
Luther Blissett is celebrated as a trailblazer in English football, becoming the first Black player to score for the England national team. He marked his debut with a stunning hat-trick, helping England secure a 9-0 victory against Luxembourg. In total, he earned 14 caps for his country.
In addition to his footballing achievements, Blissett was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2022 for his contributions to football and charity.
