Vozinha makes World Cup history
The Cape Verdean has become one of the goalkeepers in their forties to shine on the world stage.
Vozinha continues to write the finest chapters of his career. At 40, the Cape Verdean goalkeeper has set a prestigious record at the 2026 World Cup. He has kept two clean sheets in Group H of the current World Cup being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Cape Verdean goalkeeper kept a clean sheet against Spain (0–0) and Saudi Arabia (0–0). Thanks to this performance, Vozinha has become the third goalkeeper in the history of the FIFA World Cup to record multiple clean sheets after turning 40.
Vozinha thus joins two legends of world football: England’s Peter Shilton, who kept three clean sheets after turning 40, and Italy’s Dino Zoff, who has two to his name.
