Six African Nations Reach 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 as Ghana and Cape Verde Secure Qualification
Africa will have at least six representatives in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the conclusion of the latest round of group-stage fixtures.
Ghana and Cape Verde became the newest nations to seal qualification, joining four other African sides already through to the knockout phase.
The six qualified African teams are:
- Morocco
- Egypt
- South Africa
- Côte d'Ivoire
- Ghana
- Cape Verde
While these nations have booked their places in the next round, the fate of three other African teams remains uncertain. Senegal, Algeria, and DR Congo are still waiting to learn if their points and goal differences will be enough to qualify as some of the tournament's best third-placed teams.
Tunisia, however, has been officially eliminated after failing to progress from the group stage, becoming the first African nation to exit the competition.
