In their FIFA World Cup Group Stage clash against Saudi Arabia, Uruguay came agonisingly close to equalling a long-standing tournament record.

Details: During the second half, Uruguay fired 22 shots toward the Saudi Arabian goal. According to Opta, that is the highest number of attempts recorded by a team in a single half of a World Cup match since 1978. The only higher total remains East Germany’s 24 shots against Chile in 1974.

By the way, it has also been reported that the star attacking player will not feature in Brazil’s second match of the tournament. Neymar continues his recovery and remains focused on physical training, with his rehabilitation progressing according to plan.

As a reminder: The former Real Madrid head coach was spotted in the stands during the Brazil vs. Morocco clash alongside his sons.
