Mbappe turned down bonuses to move to Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappé will be able to leave Paris Saint-Germain for free next summer when his contract expires. The club had been desperately trying to prevent this, but their stance softened after the forward had agreed to waive the €100 million loyalty bonuses that were due to him, as reported by the Spanish publication AS.
Mbappé had seemed poised to join Real Madrid in 2022, but a change of heart led him to sign a new contract with PSG. However, it was revealed this summer that the final year of his new contract is not obligatory, meaning he can leave in 2024.
Paris Saint-Germain had been determined not to let Mbappé go without a substantial transfer fee. But now, with most of the money saved thanks to Mbappé's decision to waive his loyalty bonuses, the move to the Santiago Bernabéu appears to be a mere formality.
Kylian Mbappé has been playing for PSG since 2018, when he moved there from Monaco for €180 million. Before that, he spent one year on loan at the Parisian club. Over seven seasons, the Frenchman has played 273 matches, scoring 224 goals and becoming PSG's all-time leading goalscorer.
