Former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson leaves £8.6m debt after his passing

Sven-Göran Eriksson, the former England manager and renowned club coach, left behind a significant debt of £8.6 million following his death, forcing the sale of his longtime residence in Sweden, reports The Sun.
Eriksson purchased the house in Sunne in 2002 for £420,000. Over two decades, its value rose to £3 million. However, the property is now listed at a reduced price of £1.8 million in an effort to settle debts.
According to Swedish newspaper Göteborgs-Posten, Eriksson’s assets at the time of his passing were valued at £4.8 million, falling far short of covering his outstanding liabilities.
The luxurious home includes multiple living rooms, a library, a swimming pool, a sauna, a spa, a jacuzzi, a gym, a tennis court, and other amenities.
Eriksson passed away on August 26, 2024, from pancreatic cancer.
The Swedish manager’s storied career included notable achievements such as winning the UEFA Cup in 1982 with IFK Göteborg, the Cup Winners’ Cup and Serie A title in 1999/2000 with Lazio, and reaching the European Cup final in 1990 with Benfica.
