59-year record matched! England repeat a feat last achieved by Sir Alf Ramsey's team
England's historic night in Rijeka has produced another remarkable entry in the national team's record books.
Details: England have equalled the longest away winning streak in their history after crushing Croatia 7-0 in the UEFA Nations League. The victory was the Three Lions' ninth consecutive win away from home, matching the run achieved between December 1965 and October 1967 during Sir Alf Ramsey's era.
The record-equalling result came in spectacular fashion. England were already four goals ahead by half-time after strikes from Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and Bukayo Saka. Thomas Tuchel's side did not ease off after the break, with Kane and Saka completing braces before Morgan Rogers added the seventh.
According to England Football, the previous nine-match away winning sequence lasted from December 1965 until October 1967. Nearly six decades later, the current generation has finally managed to match that benchmark. The 7-0 result was also England's biggest ever victory in the UEFA Nations League and the heaviest defeat in Croatia's history.
It is worth noting that Kane finished the night with two goals and an assist. The England captain has now scored 89 goals in 124 appearances for the senior national team.
Reminder: What a humiliation! England destroy Croatia away and rewrite history
