Bayer Leverkusen has been dealt a major blow, losing two key players following their Bundesliga Matchday 18 clash against Hoffenheim.
Details: The Leverkusen club announced on their social media channels that two of their players—goalkeeper Mark Flekken and Nigerian winger Nathan Tella—have sustained injuries and will be unavailable to help the team in the near future.
To recap, goalkeeper Mark Flekken suffered an injury in the 60th minute and was forced to leave the pitch, unable to continue the game. The exact nature of the injury has not been disclosed, but the club has confirmed he will be out "for some time."
The match took an even worse turn for Nathan Tella. The Nigerian winger came on as a substitute in the 74th minute, but just seven minutes later, he was back on the turf, requiring a forced substitution due to injury. As a result, Tella spent only a few minutes on the field.
The timeline for both players’ recovery will be determined after they undergo medical examinations.
Reminder: Girona have signed Manchester City midfielder Claudio Echeverri on loan. The Argentine spent the first part of the season at Bayer.
