Lazio have moved quickly to reinforce their defence with an experienced Bundesliga centre-back.

Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Lazio have reached an agreement on a three-year contract with Portuguese centre-back Diogo Leite. The 27-year-old is set to join the Italian club as a free agent after leaving Union Berlin following the expiry of his contract.

The deal means Lazio will not have to negotiate a transfer fee with Union Berlin. Leite's agreement with the German club officially expired on June 30, 2026, leaving the Portuguese defender available on the free-agent market before the Biancocelesti made their move.

Leite is a left-footed central defender who came through Porto's academy before representing the Portuguese giants at senior level and later spending time with Braga. He moved to Union Berlin in 2022 and became a regular in the German club's defensive line during four seasons in the Bundesliga.

It is worth noting that Leite made 113 Bundesliga appearances for Union Berlin during his spell in Germany. In the 2025/26 league season, the Portuguese centre-back featured in 23 matches, finishing the campaign without a goal or an assist.
