Christian Kofane could become one of the names to watch when the January transfer window opens.

Details: According to Football Insider, Newcastle and Aston Villa intend to continue their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane in January. Both Premier League clubs explored the possibility of signing the 20-year-old during the final stages of the summer transfer window, but neither managed to complete a deal before the deadline.

Kofane is expected to remain on the radar of both English clubs during the first half of the season, with Newcastle and Aston Villa hoping the situation could become more favorable once the winter window opens. Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, kept the Cameroon international in their squad despite the late interest from England.

The striker's numbers have only increased the interest surrounding him. Football Insider reports that Kofane recorded seven goals and six assists in all competitions last season, while he has started the new campaign with two goals in his first two appearances.

It is worth noting that Kofane remains under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 30, 2029. Transfermarkt currently values the Cameroonian centre-forward at €40 million.

Reminder: Official! He could have moved to the Premier League, but chose Turkey
