“You made us win!” Dalot's emotional tribute to Ronaldo after Portugal bombshell
Diogo Dalot has paid an emotional tribute to the man who inspired generations of Portuguese footballers.
Details: Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo's announcement that he will end his international career after the November break. On November 5, the 41-year-old superstar revealed his decision to bring his 23-year journey with Portugal to a close. Dalot, who shared the national team dressing room with Ronaldo, responded with a heartfelt message on social media, thanking the legendary captain for everything he had given his country.
“You made us dream, you made us believe, and you made us WIN! Thank you idol,” Dalot wrote.
The Portuguese defender chose just a few words to express his admiration for Ronaldo, highlighting not only the dreams and belief he inspired but also the victories he delivered. His message came shortly after Ronaldo announced his departure from the national team, prompting an outpouring of tributes to the legendary number seven.
Ronaldo himself described his decision as an emotional one, reflecting on a journey that began in August 2003. The Portuguese icon thanked his teammates, coaches, family and supporters for accompanying him throughout his international career.
It is worth noting that Ronaldo has scored 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal, holding both all-time records in men's international football. He also captained his country to victory at Euro 2016 and won the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025.
