Yamal makes history! Barcelona wonderkid shatters Mbappé's legendary Champions League record
Lamine Yamal has surpassed Kylian Mbappé and rewritten Champions League history before his 20th birthday.
Details: The 19-year-old Barcelona winger scored against Aston Villa in the seventh minute of their Champions League clash on November 3. It was the Spaniard's 14th goal in the competition, making him the highest-scoring teenager in its history. Mbappé had previously held the record with 13 goals before turning 20.
Yamal entered the match level with the French superstar after scoring his 13th Champions League goal against Paris Saint-Germain on October 20. Just two weeks later, he moved ahead of the Real Madrid forward and claimed the historic record outright.
The landmark goal came after a costly mistake in Aston Villa's buildup. Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki played a short pass to João Gomes, who sent the ball straight to Yamal. The Barcelona star immediately punished the error, curling a superb effort into the net to give the Catalans an early lead.
Remarkably, the Spanish winger reached this milestone in his 37th Champions League appearance. For comparison, Mbappé scored his 13 teenage goals in just 23 matches in Europe's most prestigious club competition.
It's worth noting that Yamal has already scored three goals in the Champions League this season, having previously found the net against Feyenoord and Paris Saint-Germain.
Reminder: Mourinho has made his decision! Will Vinicius play against AEK?
