Manchester United could be preparing a sensational change in the dugout.

Details: According to journalist Santi Aouna, Manchester United have contacted former France national team head coach Didier Deschamps over the possibility of appointing him as their permanent manager. The French specialist has emerged as another potential candidate to take charge at Old Trafford amid uncertainty surrounding Michael Carrick's future.

Deschamps has been without a coaching job since leaving the France national team following the 2026 World Cup. After nearly 14 years in charge of Les Bleus, the 58-year-old is now being linked with a return to club football.

For now, the situation remains at the contact stage. There has been no official confirmation of negotiations, an agreement or a managerial appointment. Carrick remains Manchester United's head coach, although his position has come under considerable scrutiny following the team's disappointing results.

The Red Devils recently ended a nine-match winless streak with a dramatic 3-2 Champions League victory over Roma on November 3. Their next Premier League fixture is scheduled for November 8 against Aston Villa.

It's worth noting that Deschamps led France to victory at the 2018 World Cup and reached another World Cup final in 2022. He also won the tournament as a player in 1998, making him one of the few figures to become a world champion in both roles.
