Alphonso Davies has emerged as one of Real Madrid's primary transfer targets for the upcoming summer window. Both the club and the player are keen to finalize a deal, with the Canadian left-back showing no intention of renewing his contract with Bayern Munich. While Los Blancos are prepared to begin negotiations as early as January, there is one potential stumbling block - the salary demands of Davies.

Details: Davies’ contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire at the end of the current season. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to extend his deal, the German club has reportedly resigned itself to losing the defender next summer. The expiration of his contract has drawn the attention of several top European clubs, with Real Madrid considered the frontrunner to secure his signature.

However, according to the Spanish outlet Sport, Davies is expected to request a salary of around €20 million at his next club. This would place him among the top five highest earners at Real Madrid, alongside Kylian Mbappé (€31.25 million/year), David Alaba (€22.5 million/year), and both Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham (€20.83 million/year), according to data from Capology.

Currently, Real Madrid's top-earning defenders, excluding Alaba, are Antonio Rüdiger and Éder Militão, both of whom earn just under €15 million annually.

Added: These high wage demands could deter other interested clubs from pursuing Davies. Barcelona, for instance, is unlikely to free up the necessary salary cap space to meet his requirements. On the other hand, there may be clubs willing to meet the Canadian star’s demands. Teams from the Middle East, known for offering lucrative contracts, might be contenders, though it remains to be seen whether Davies would consider such a dramatic shift in his career path.
