Marcus Rashford's future has taken another unexpected turn just days before the transfer window closes.

Details: According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have not ruled out the possibility of Marcus Rashford leaving the club before the transfer deadline. Arsenal are keeping tabs on the 28-year-old England forward's situation, while Barcelona remain interested in bringing him back to Catalonia.

The Barcelona option is particularly intriguing because Rashford only returned to Manchester United this summer after spending the 2025/26 campaign on loan at the Catalan club. Barcelona decided not to activate their purchase option, but communication with the player's representatives has reportedly remained open.

Manchester United have since reintegrated Rashford into the first-team squad and handed him the number nine shirt. He also came off the bench in the opening Premier League defeat against Hull City. Despite that, United sources have not completely closed the door on a late permanent transfer if a suitable proposal arrives.

Arsenal are another club watching developments closely as the final days of the window approach. For now, Manchester United are planning with Rashford and would be happy to keep him, meaning any interested club would still need to convince the Old Trafford hierarchy to sanction his departure.

It is worth noting that Rashford made 49 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions during the 2025/26 season, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists.

Reminder: Manchester United go after Chelsea defender. Who is he?
