Deadline bombshell! Atlético push for Jonathan David as Juventus talks heat up
Atlético Madrid are accelerating their search for a new striker before the transfer window slams shut.
Details: According to renowned insider Fabrizio Romano, Atlético Madrid remain in active talks with Jonathan David’s representatives and are also holding direct conversations with Juventus regarding the Canadian forward. David is currently one of the three leading names on the Madrid club’s shortlist for a new striker.
The latest development represents another step forward in Atlético’s pursuit of David. Earlier this week, the Spanish club had already contacted Juventus to understand the conditions of a possible deal, but at that stage there had been no formal negotiations. The situation has now progressed, with talks taking place both with the player’s camp and directly between the clubs.
However, an agreement is not guaranteed yet. Romano reports that the final outcome will depend on the formula of the potential operation, meaning Atlético and Juventus still need to find a structure that satisfies all parties. No details regarding that formula have been confirmed, while the other two forwards on Atlético’s three-man shortlist have not been named in the latest update.
It is worth noting that during the 2025/26 Serie A season, Jonathan David made 35 league appearances for Juventus, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists.
