South Korean international and Alanyaspor forward Hwang Ui-Jo is at the center of a serious sex scandal, facing potential jail time.
Details: According to BBC reports, the 31-year-old could be sentenced to four years in prison for allegedly filming sexual encounters with two women without their consent.
The scandal surfaced when one of the videos was released by Hwang's ex-girlfriend in an attempt to blackmail him. In response, Hwang filed a lawsuit, and the ex-girlfriend was sentenced to three years in prison for her actions.
However, Hwang himself later became the subject of legal action, as two of his former partners claimed he had filmed their sexual encounters on four separate occasions without their knowledge or consent.
A court hearing was held yesterday in Seoul, where Hwang admitted to his guilt and stated that he intends to focus on his football career. The court has yet to issue a final verdict.
The Korea Football Association has officially announced that Hwang Ui-Jo has been permanently excluded from the national team. He previously made 62 appearances for South Korea, scoring 19 goals.
This season, Hwang has netted two goals in three appearances for Alanyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig. The player is also known for his stints in Europe with Bordeaux, Norwich, and Olympiacos. Hwang was also on the books at Nottingham Forest but did not play any matches for the English club.
Reminder: Two days ago, it was revealed that Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé is under investigation for alleged sexual misconduct.
