Orlando Pirates face Marumo Gallants in the Carling Cup final this evening in what is expected to be a one sided affair at Peter Mokaba Stadium this evening.

The Sea Robbers have a chance of winning their second trophy this season having won the MTN8 trophy already early in the campaign.

The odds are stacked against Marumo Gallants as Pirates are the on form team currently in local football.

Here Dailysports looks at the four men who can be influential in steering the trophy for their team.

Tshepang Moremi (Orlando Pirates)

The former AmaZulu winger has fitted like a hand in a glove into the Pirates side. Moremi’s solitary goal against Richards Bay was enough to hand Pirates an appearance in today’s final. Moremi’s strength is his positioning and speed. He is a thorn in the flesh for any defence and his sharpness in front of goal is also his strong point. He will be a tricky customer this evening.

Aswin Appollis (Orlando Pirates)

You would not know how and where to start describing Aswin Appollis. This is one player who has been a revelation for the Sea Robbers. Nippy yet fast and his small frame does not at all deter him from fighting for the ball. The former Polokwane City player has been far impressive for Abdeslam Ouaddou this season that even when he starts on the bench, his introduction tens to change the game Pirates. That will be the expectation against tonight.

Washington Arubi (Marumo Gallants)

There are few games were Marumo Gallants won without the influential goalkeeper. A Marumo Gallants win is synonymous to Washington Arubi. The Zimbabwean goal-minder’s name is one which coach Alexandre Lafiitte cannot leave out when writing his starting line-up. Arubi is influential, both during the game and even on penalties. His impeccable experience in the game makes him a special player though he is a silent leader.

Jaison Clifford

The striker is uniquely intelligent. Clifford is good such that Pirates expressed interest in him prior to his Marumo Gallants move but that move did not materialise for various reasons. But this evening, Clifford will be eager to remind Pirates of his prowess and ability in front of goal. If there’s an infield player Pirates are t guard against from Gallants, it’s Clifford. With good supply from midfield, Clifford could win it for Marumo and hurt Pirates.
