Alexandre Latiffe is on the lookout for a solution to solve his Marumo Gallants’ goalscoring problem.

The French-man and his team lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates in extra-time in the Carling Cup in Polokwane where they did not trouble the Sea Robbers upfront.

"We have a problem of scoring, but I believe in my team, and we will continue to work. But we are working with the president [Abram Sello] to improve the team step by step," he said after Saturday’s Cup final loss.

Jaison Clifford looks the part as a marksman for Gallants but in that game he was not causing problems for the Soweto side.

The coach said his team’s loss was not a reflection of their intentions.

"When you play a cup final, you want to win, and honestly, I think my team performed very well, but when you play a team like Pirates, the challenge is to make use of your chances. In extra time, there was no balance, and Pirates used the situation," said Lafitte at the post-match press conference.

"I'm happy with the performance of the team, but disappointed with the result. Today we used the ball very well which is very important for the future. We continue to believe in the project, to believe in the future.

"I changed Bheki Mabuza because he had an injury, hence we needed to do a substitution. Daniel Msendami performed; I think he has the quality to help the team.

"The idea was to push the match to penalties, but we conceded two minutes before the extra-time half-time. In the second half of the extra time, we wanted to push, but the levels of energy decreased," he added.
