Kaizer Chiefs striker Flavio Silva on his critics: I am not Ronaldo or Lionel Messi but I know how to play to my strengths to benefit the team
Flavio Silva insists he plays to his strength.
The Kaizer Chiefs striker has been under scrutiny of late with critics firing his way for lack of goals.
But the Guinea-Bissau forward has addressed those expectations even highlighting he is no Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.
“For me, when the criticism, since it’s not personal, it’s okay. It means that I’m not playing good, that I can improve,” he told the Chiefs website.
Instead of dragging his feet and sulking at the critics, Silva said it has fuelled him for improvement in his game.
“Since I’m playing good, I know they’re going to greet me, they’re going to respect me, they’re going to give me love. So for me, it’s okay, it’s no problem. It’s part of the game,” he said before highling his number of goals this season.
“I think it’s eight, I’m not sure.
“I’m sure it’s always about team. I used to talk to my teammates. I tell them I can score a lot of goals, but I’m not Lionel Messi, I’m not Cristiano Ronaldo. I’m not going to dribble three, four players and score goals.
“I make my movement, they’re going to pass me. I believe them. So yeah, it’s always about team.”
Perhaps, against Magesi FC this evening in a Betway Premiership, Silva has a chance to continue improving at this critical moment of the season.
The game at New Peter Mokaba Stadium starts at 7.30pm.
