Deal agreed! Dutch international swaps the Bundesliga for PSV
PSV are bringing one of the Netherlands' most versatile defenders back to home soil.
Details: According to an exclusive from Fabrizio Romano, PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement in principle with RB Leipzig for Lutsharel Geertruida. The offer has been accepted: the defender moves on a loan deal with a buy option clause, and the 26-year-old has already received the green light to undergo medical tests and sign his contract.

The Rotterdam-born defender rose through the ranks at Feyenoord, where he became Dutch champion in 2023 and played in the Conference League final, before moving to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024. In his debut Bundesliga campaign he made 35 appearances across all competitions, while last season he spent on loan at Sunderland, playing 28 matches in the Premier League.
For the reigning Eredivisie champions, this is a real defensive coup — and a piquant one at that: Geertruida, a former Feyenoord leader, is now set to wear the shirt of their fiercest rivals. The Netherlands international is valued for his versatility, being equally comfortable at right-back, centre-back and even in defensive midfield.
It's worth noting that Transfermarkt values Geertruida at €20 million, and his contract with RB Leipzig was due to run until the summer of 2029.
Reminder: Official: Borussia Dortmund completes high-profile transfer of PSV's star midfielder.
