Official: It has been revealed where Memphis Depay will continue his career
Memphis Depay's dramatic Corinthians saga has taken one final and unexpected turn.
Details: Corinthians have officially announced the renewal of Memphis Depay's contract. The Netherlands forward will remain with the Brazilian club until the end of July 2028, putting an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding his future.
The outcome represents a remarkable reversal. Less than a week ago, Corinthians announced that they would not extend Depay's deal, explaining that taking on another major financial commitment would not be compatible with the club's need to protect its financial stability.
Depay reacted strongly to that decision. The Dutchman accused Corinthians of breaking an agreement that, according to him, had already been approved by the club's president and the relevant sporting, legal and financial departments. He also made it clear that he intended to protect his interests after the agreement collapsed.
The parties eventually returned to negotiations and managed to reach a compromise, after which Corinthians formally completed the extension. Depay has represented the São Paulo club since September 2024 and has already made 79 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 15 assists. During his spell at Corinthians, he has also helped the team win the Paulista Championship, Copa do Brasil and Brazilian Super Cup.
Reminder: Memphis stays! Depay extends contract with Corinthians on unusual terms
