"This is not Real Madrid level" - Mourinho delivers harsh verdict on Rodri's decision
Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has set the record straight regarding the transfer saga surrounding the Spanish midfielder.
Details: The Los Blancos boss, José Mourinho, commented on Spain international Rodri's decision to continue his career at Barcelona, despite serious interest from the Madrid giants. The Portuguese tactician emphasized that the club had made the player a more than generous offer, but the midfielder's own hesitancy cooled the board's enthusiasm.
"I spoke to Rodri a couple of times. Real Madrid made him a very good offer. We have an excellent relationship with Manchester City, and the club took a significant step forward. But Rodri had doubts, he hesitated. And his hesitation made me doubt as well.
For me, Rodri is an outstanding player, but Real Madrid is a whole different level and scale. At Real, there can't be players who think twice. That's our philosophy. That said, he behaved with the utmost professionalism, and I wish him all the best," Mourinho stated.
It's worth noting that the 30-year-old Ballon d'Or winner Rodri, after seven seasons with Manchester City, has officially completed his move to Catalan giants Barcelona. According to Transfermarkt, the Spanish midfielder's market value is €110 million.
