Despite having filed an appeal, Juventus decided to comply with the initial court ruling and pay Cristiano Ronaldo the amount determined by the verdict. Thus, the "Bianconeri" consider the matter closed.
Details: Juventus president Gianluca Ferrero stated that the club no longer needs to set aside funds to cover the debt. However, Turin officials still hope to receive some compensation from Ronaldo, which is why an appeal was filed against the April court decision.
Quote: "We paid Ronaldo in April, and there’s no need for any risk fund. We paid 50% of the amount he requested, so there’s no need for a risk fund since the amounts have already been paid. We disagree with this ruling, which established an equal distribution of responsibility, so we have appealed to the Turin court," Ferrero said at a shareholders' meeting.
Reminder: Ronaldo initiated a legal dispute with his former club over unpaid wages amounting to €19.5 million, which arose from two missed salary payments during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, an arbitration court ruled that both Ronaldo and Juventus share responsibility, meaning the "Bianconeri" will pay only half of the unpaid salary plus interest. The club disagreed with this decision and filed an appeal.
