Simeone's side still searching for their best form. Atlético Madrid vs Osasuna prediction
Atlético Madrid and Osasuna will meet on Wednesday, 16 September, in the sixth round of La Liga. The match will take place at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid and kick off at 19:00 CET. I am backing a winner in this game.
H2H and statistical facts
• Atlético have not lost at home in four consecutive matches.
• Osasuna have lost their last two games.
• The Pamplona side have conceded in eight consecutive away matches.
• Since 2009, Osasuna have beaten Atlético in Madrid just once.
The Madrid side have yet to find their rhythm
Atlético have made an inconsistent start to the season. Diego Simeone's side did not immediately find the right balance and dropped points in the opening rounds, but have gradually started to improve.
In La Liga, Atlético have already played several very different matches. The team began the season with a victory, then drew, before securing an important 3-1 win over Sevilla. Their two most recent matches ended with the same scoreline of 3-0 — a victory over Real Sociedad and a defeat in Bilbao.
The Madrid side have also already begun their Champions League campaign. On 9 September, Atlético travelled to face Liverpool and took the lead through Marcos Llorente, but eventually lost 2-1. Simeone's team therefore head into the match against Osasuna after a demanding European away trip, but with a strong emotional boost following their emphatic victory over Real Sociedad.

Visitors head to Madrid after two consecutive defeats
Osasuna have made a much more confident start to the season than many expected. Under new head coach Luis Miguel Ramis, the team spent some time among the leaders and showed a well-organised defensive structure. After the opening rounds, the Pamplona side had two wins and a draw, while conceding very few goals.
One of their most significant results was the setback against Alavés. Osasuna travelled to Vitoria and were thrashed 5-2. The team showed decent attacking potential, but at the same time serious defensive problems became apparent.
Before that, Osasuna had also picked up points in other matches during the opening stage of the campaign. For a long time, the team remained one of the most difficult opponents to play against, while their home ground, El Sadar, continued to be a major factor. However, their strong start was followed by an unpleasant downturn in form.
On 12 September, Osasuna lost 2-0 at home to Espanyol. Roberto Fernández scored both goals inside the opening 20 minutes, and the hosts were unable to fight their way back into the game. The defeat was their second in a row following the setback in Vitoria and ended a run of two consecutive victories. As a result, the team head to Madrid with seven points from five matches.
Probable line-ups
• Atlético Madrid: Oblak, Pubill, Romero, Hancko, Grimaldo, Simeone, Llorente, Jøergensen, Lee, Baena, Lookman.
• Osasuna: Herrera, R. García, Catena, Yeboah, Arguibide, Moncayola, Muñoz, Haro, García, Barja, Budimir.
What to bet on?
Atlético look like the favourites for this encounter. The Madrid side are gradually finding their rhythm, recently secured a convincing victory over Real Sociedad, and should benefit from the Metropolitano factor. Osasuna are capable of causing problems with their organised approach and counter-attacking threat, but two consecutive defeats suggest that the team are currently far from their best. The Madrid side should control the game and possess enough quality in attack to claim all three points. I am backing a home win with a -1 goal handicap.
