Serie A club sacks its head coach
Bologna have run out of patience with Domenico Tedesco.
Details: Bologna have decided to dismiss head coach Domenico Tedesco with immediate effect following a disastrous opening to the new Serie A campaign. The 41-year-old only took charge of the Rossoblù in the summer, but his spell in charge is already coming to an abrupt end.
The decision comes after Bologna collected only one point from their opening four league matches. Tedesco's side suffered 1-0 defeats against Lazio and Atalanta, drew 2-2 with Sassuolo and then lost 1-0 away to Napoli in their most recent Serie A fixture.
Pressure on the coach increased sharply after the trip to Naples. Bologna's management held talks over Tedesco's future on Tuesday, and several Italian reports indicated that the club had begun assessing potential replacements before the final decision was made.
Tedesco arrived at Bologna in June 2026 after previously working with Fenerbahçe, Belgium, RB Leipzig, Spartak Moscow and Schalke. His Bologna side scored only two goals across the first four Serie A rounds, with both coming in the 2-2 draw against Sassuolo.
It is worth noting that Bologna's next Serie A match is scheduled for September 19 at home against Torino, meaning the club will now have to prepare for the fixture under a new coach or an interim appointment.
