Here we go! Bologna pull the trigger on a coaching change and bring in a Serie A specialist
The first managerial domino of the Serie A season has fallen: Bologna have found their new boss, and he knows this league inside out.
Details: Bologna have agreed to appoint Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach, here we go. According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is in place with the 42-year-old Italian manager, who returns to action after his chapters at Atalanta and Fiorentina. He replaces Domenico Tedesco, who is set to be dismissed after a poor start to the campaign.
For Palladino, this is a shot at redemption at a club with genuine pedigree. The former Monza coach impressed enough at Fiorentina to earn the Atalanta job, but his Bergamo adventure ended abruptly in June, sacked after just 39 matches despite guiding La Dea into the Conference League, with Maurizio Sarri taking his place. Now Bologna come calling. The Rossoblù, Coppa Italia winners in 2025 and Europa League regulars, have lurched through a coaching carousel since: Vincenzo Italiano left for Napoli in May, Tedesco arrived with a contract until 2028, and three months later the German is already packing. Bologna's results gave the board no choice, and the club that famously developed Italiano and Thiago Motta now bets on another progressive Italian mind. Palladino's first task will be immediate: stabilize a squad low on confidence and rekindle the atmosphere at the Dall'Ara before the season slips away entirely.
It's worth noting that Palladino is still only 42 but Bologna will already be his fifth Serie A bench after Monza, Fiorentina and Atalanta, a remarkable coaching journey for his age.
