Another De Zerbi disaster! Tottenham crash out of the Carabao Cup
Tottenham's difficult start under Roberto De Zerbi has taken another painful turn.
Details: Spurs have been eliminated from the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for the hosts in the 21st minute before Cody Gakpo doubled Liverpool's advantage shortly after the break, finding the net in the 54th minute. Conor Gallagher pulled one back for Tottenham on 69 minutes, but the London side could not find an equaliser and Liverpool held on to reach the next round.

De Zerbi made eight changes to the team that started the 0-0 Premier League draw against Everton, giving several other members of his squad an opportunity at Anfield. The rotation, however, was not enough to keep Tottenham's cup campaign alive.
The defeat adds to a frustrating opening stretch of the season for Spurs. Tottenham have collected only two points from their first four Premier League matches and are still waiting for their first league goal of the 2026/27 campaign.
It is worth noting that Liverpool are the most successful club in League Cup history, having won the competition a record 10 times.
