The Serie A Disciplinary Committee has handed down a harsh ruling following the matchday 23 clash between Cremonese and Inter.
Details: Supporters of the Milan club are now officially prohibited from attending their team's away fixtures in the Italian league until the end of March 2026. The sanction was prompted by a dangerous incident last Sunday, when one of the "Nerazzurri" fans in the away section at the Giovanni Zini Stadium threw a firecracker at the home goalkeeper, Emil Audero.
The pyrotechnic device exploded in close proximity to the keeper, narrowly avoiding a serious injury.
The Serie A authorities deemed the act completely unacceptable. The tough punishment will impact thousands of devoted Inter supporters, who will now be unable to back their team in crucial away fixtures in February and March.
The club itself has yet to make any official statements regarding a possible appeal.
It's worth noting that the match itself ended in a confident 2-0 victory for Inter.
Reminder: At the age of 39, former Inter, SPAL, and Cremonese defender Nicolas Giani has passed away.
