The Senegalese striker made a sensational impact as a substitute against Iraq, a performance that will go down in the competition’s history.
Iliman Ndiaye left his mark on the Senegal v Iraq match on Friday 26 June during the final day of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. Coming on as a substitute in the 57th minute, the Senegalese striker distinguished himself in the finest possible way. He scored a goal and provided an assist in the Lions of Teranga’s resounding 5–0 victory.
This was an unprecedented performance in the competition. Iliman Ndiaye thus became the first player in the history of the FIFA World Cup to come on as a substitute and then go on to score a goal, provide an assist, touch the ball five times in the opposition’s penalty area and complete five dribbles.
