It now appears that Senegal will not, after all, kick off their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at home as planned.

Whilst the Lions of Teranga were due to host Mozambique on 25 September, the match will ultimately take place neither at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio nor at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium. The Mozambican Football Federation has announced, in an official statement, that the fixture has been moved to the Zimpeto National Stadium in Maputo.

This decision comes as a surprise, as Senegal were due to play at home on this opening day of the qualifiers. Despite this change of venue, the date and kick-off time of the match remain unchanged.

According to the announcement, the Lions of Teranga will therefore have to travel to Mozambique for their opening match in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. However, the Senegalese Football Federation has not yet officially responded to this relocation announced by Mozambique.
