Carrick handed a new chance? Manchester unsure about appointing Eddie Howe
Manchester United’s hierarchy remains unconvinced that appointing Eddie Howe as Michael Carrick’s potential successor as head coach would be the right move.
Details: According to the respected publication The Independent, the Manchester club’s decision-makers are not yet convinced that the Newcastle United manager is the ideal figure to lead the long-term project.
The club is also skeptical about the alternative candidates on its managerial shortlist. In particular, Manchester United’s hierarchy has reservations about Julian Nagelsmann and Fabian Hürzeler, making the potential search for a new manager significantly more complicated.
For now, the club’s hierarchy has not made a final decision on Michael Carrick’s future. The team’s recent Champions League victory over Roma played a key role in easing the tension, temporarily reducing the pressure on the manager and giving the club time to assess the situation.
After nine Premier League matches, the “Red Devils” have collected 7 points and sit 17th in the table. In the Champions League, Carrick’s side are 17th with six points and still have a realistic chance of reaching the playoffs.
