Praise with a catch! Emery sent Manchester United a warning ahead of their showdown
Unai Emery has delivered an intriguing message to Manchester United ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash! The Aston Villa manager praised the Red Devils' quality and achievements, but made it clear that he has no desire to see their recovery begin against his own team.
Details: Speaking at his November 6 press conference, Emery described United as a fantastic club and acknowledged their Champions League qualification last season. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish coach believes Michael Carrick's side can rediscover consistency in the Premier League, although he hopes that improvement will not arrive against Aston Villa on November 8.
United enter the encounter under considerable pressure. Despite ending a ten-match winless run with a dramatic 3:2 Champions League victory over Roma, the Red Devils remain near the Premier League relegation zone. Their last league victory came in August, highlighting the contrast between their European campaign and domestic struggles.
Emery also admitted that Old Trafford has been an extremely difficult destination for his team. Since arriving at Villa in 2022, he has not managed a victory there. His side travel to Manchester following a 3:0 defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League, making Sunday's fixture another important test of their resilience.
It's worth noting that the match is scheduled for November 8 at 16:30 local time. Aston Villa remain unbeaten in their last five Premier League fixtures, while United are searching for their first league win in several months. Emery respects his opponents, but will be determined to extend their difficulties.
Reminder: A response to interest from Old Trafford! Aston Villa close to agreeing new contract with Unai Emery.
