Real Madrid won't have it easy! Como make a bold statement about Nico Paz's future
Real Madrid may have the right to bring Nico Paz back, but Como are not ready to surrender their biggest star without a fight! The Italian club's sporting director has made a strong statement about the Argentine playmaker's future, reminding everyone who currently owns his contract.
Details: Speaking to Radio Radio, Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi insisted that Paz is fully a Como player. He confirmed that Real Madrid retain a buyback option that can be exercised during a specific transfer window. However, Ludi believes such a transfer would still reward Como's work and stressed the excellent relationship between the two clubs.
The situation follows an unusual agreement reached during the summer of 2026. Madrid initially activated their previous buyback clause, but Como subsequently secured Paz on a permanent deal reportedly worth €60 million. The Spanish giants retained another option, reportedly valued at €80 million, which can be activated in summer 2027. Real Madrid officially confirmed in June that the Argentine would remain in Italy for the 2026/27 campaign.
Paz's outstanding performances explain why his future attracts so much attention. The 22-year-old has already registered three goals and five assists in four Champions League appearances this season. His impressive displays against Manchester United and Lens have also reportedly attracted interest from Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Arsenal. Nevertheless, there is no confirmed agreement for his departure.
It's worth noting that Paz developed in Real Madrid's academy before establishing himself under Cesc Fàbregas at Como. The midfielder is expected to complete the current season in Italy. Although Madrid have a contractual route to his return, whether they exercise that option in 2027 remains undecided.
Reminder: Eight in four! Nico Paz produces stunning Champions League numbers.
