Bafana Bafana legend Itumeleng Khune believes the visa bungle by Safa will negatively impact the players
The former national team goalkeeper said it could make or break Bafana's tournament
Bafana Bafana's late arrival for the World Cup is not a good start for a team hoping to make an impression on a global stage.
South Africa's Bafana arrived in Mexico on Tuesday last week, instead of Monday, as a result of a visa bungle officials.
Assistant coach Helman Mkhalele arrived on Thursday which was also due to visa challenges.
Former Bafana goalminder, Itumeleng Khune, who boasts 91 caps for the national side, said this was not going to help the national team's cause at the global spectacle.
"Incidents affect players mentally. You set your mind to doing something, and you program your mind to do something at that time. If you hear that the visas are not ready, it definitely plays in your mind," Khune told the media at a Carling Black Label FIFA World Cup 'We Are The Champions' launch.
"I just wish the captain and the rest of the senior players on the team would help the players to make sure they focus fully on the tournament and not focus on the bonuses and things like that.
"I think SAFA should have solved these things long ago. For them to leave this thing to the last minute is not fair to the players, and it does affect players badly."
Bafana face Mexico this Thursday in the opening game of the tournament and expectation is that they can silence the partisan Mexicans on home soil.
