The Moroccan international goalkeeper highlighted the spirit driving the Atlas Lions ahead of the tournament.

The 2026 World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, kicks off on 11 June. Morocco, which had a historic tournament in Qatar in 2022, is confident ahead of this new event in the Americas. This is what the Moroccan national team’s goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, suggested.

“The quality of the players is still there, as is the mentality, because the World Cup is a dream for every player. For some, this might be their chance. We have to be realistic: some teams are bigger favourites than us, but we’ve been improving since 2022 and we intend to keep up the momentum. We can sense our opponents’ respect, and that motivates us.”

Morocco are in Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland and Haiti.
