The Argentine authorities have taken unprecedented action against child support defaulters, deciding to bar them from the biggest sporting festival of the next four years.
Details: According to Micky Jr, Argentina’s government is working to block entry and stadium access for the 2026 World Cup to those citizens who evade their financial responsibilities to their own children.
As part of this sweeping investigation and security coordination, the Argentine side has already handed over an official “blacklist” to U.S. authorities, including around 13,000 parents with significant unpaid child support debts.
The data has been sent to relevant American agencies to ensure these individuals are promptly blocked through the Fan ID system, preventing them from entering World Cup stadiums.
It’s worth noting that at the 2026 World Cup, Argentina will face Algeria, Austria, and Jordan.
Reminder: The leader of the Argentina national team will miss the opening match against Algeria.
