Congolese striker Cédric Bakambu joins San Diego FC
A free agent following his departure from Real Betis this summer, the DR Congo international is set to make a fresh start in the MLS.
Cédric Bakambu is set to experience his sixth league after playing in France, Spain, China, Greece and Turkey. The 35-year-old striker has signed for San Diego FC in the United States. He will continue his career in the MLS after several years in Europe and four seasons in China.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo international has signed a contract for the 2026 MLS season. However, Cédric Bakambu’s contract includes options to extend for the 2027 and 2027–2028 seasons.
Cédric Bakambu arrives in the United States with a wealth of experience. He has played at the highest level in Europe for several seasons. The Congolese player has notably played in Ligue 1, La Liga, the Super Lig and the Greek Super League.
Real Betis, which he left this summer after his contract expired, was his last club in Europe.
