Messi has given football's most endless argument a one-line ending.

Details: Lionel Messi has posted the promotional video Tab Closed on Instagram, built around an unusual concept: a long bar receipt gradually prints out a summary of the Argentine legend's achievements and impact on football. At the very end, several short verdicts appear on the paper: Records — shattered, Expectations — redefined, The world — inspired, and finally GOAT debate — settled.

The final phrase immediately attracted attention because the debate over the greatest footballer of all time has followed Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for much of their careers. Importantly, Messi does not actually say the words himself in the clip: GOAT debate — settled appears as the concluding line of the promotional receipt in a video published on his account.

The Tab Closed concept was originally created as a tribute to Messi's extraordinary international journey, with the receipt listing his matches, goals, trophies and records. Its appearance on the Argentine's page now carries additional weight, coming shortly after he officially announced the end of his career with the Argentina national team.

It is worth noting that Messi finished his international career with a record 207 appearances and 125 goals for Argentina. The forward won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with La Albiceleste as well as the Copa América in 2021 and 2024. He will continue his club career with Inter Miami CF.
