Manchester City have landed one of the biggest deals of the summer transfer window.

Details: Fabrizio Romano has given his trademark “Here we go!” for Enzo Fernández’s move to Manchester City. The reigning Premier League giants have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the Argentina midfielder, with the London club approving the deal after lengthy negotiations. The overall transfer fee is reportedly set to exceed £125 million.

The Argentine midfielder had made Manchester City his preferred destination and is now expected to undergo a medical before completing the formalities of the move. The agreement brings to an end a transfer saga that intensified dramatically during the closing days of the window.

City had officially opened club-to-club negotiations with Chelsea on August 31 after previously reaching an understanding with Fernández over the possibility of a move. Chelsea had earlier demanded at least £120 million for the midfielder, while reports on deadline day indicated that negotiations had moved beyond that figure as the clubs worked on the final structure of the package.

It is worth noting that Fernández was Chelsea's leading appearance-maker during the 2025/26 season, featuring 54 times in all competitions and recording 15 goals and 7 assists. According to Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old Argentina international is currently valued at €75 million.
