A major blow for The Gambia ahead of their double-header against Ivory Coast in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Jesper Ceesay and Suleiman Camara, initially selected by head coach Johnathan McKinstry, have been ruled out due to injury. The midfielder and right-winger will therefore not be available for the upcoming international fixtures.

To make up for these two absences, the Gambia manager has called up midfielder Saidou Khan and winger Salieu Drammeh. The two players will thus join the Scorpions’ squad for this decisive double-header.

Gambia will begin their training camp on Monday 9 November in Banjul, before flying to Bouaké, in Ivory Coast, on Tuesday 10 November. The two sides will face each other on Thursday 12 November in the third matchday of the qualifiers.

Following this first match, the Gambians will return to Banjul to host the Elephants on 17 November for the fourth matchday. This double-header promises to be decisive for both teams, who are tied for top spot in Group C with six points each.
