AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: New Era Begins as Central African Republic Appoint New Head Coach
The Central African Republic have appointed Abdelaziz Karkache as their new head coach as they look to revive their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign ahead of a double-header against Benin.
The appointment comes after a disappointing start to the qualifiers for Les Fauves, who are yet to record a victory in their opening two matches.
The Central African Republic suffered a 3-1 defeat to Mauritania before losing 1-0 to Burkina Faso, leaving the team in need of a turnaround as they prepare for their next fixtures.
Karkache will now take charge of the national team and is expected to name his squad for the November qualifying matches.
His first assignment will be an away encounter against Benin on Thursday, November 12, 2026, before the two countries meet again for the return fixture on Sunday, November 15, 2026.
The second match is scheduled to take place at the Stade Japoma in Douala, Cameroon.
